Lalo Sanchez Del Valle painting

For Lalo Sánchez del Valle, painting is not merely a medium but a mutable substance - an alchemical matter through which perception, gesture, and spirit are continually reconfigured. His practice emerges as a vibrant ecosystem where intention, intuition, and imagination coexist in perpetual flux. Each work functions as a living surface, a charged territory where instinct and consciousness collide.

Born in Mexico City in 1968, Sánchez del Valle recognized early that drawing, color, and texture would form the language through which he would articulate his world. While many artists begin with childhood curiosity, few sustain and refine it into the mature visual philosophy that defines his oeuvre today. His first formative influence came under Professor Enrique Chríach, later continuing his studies at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Since then, his work has been exhibited widely across Europe and the Americas including Paris, New York, Vienna, Bratislava, Prague, Budapest, Belgrade, Slovenia, Madrid, and Mexico City with notable presentations at Maison de l’UNESCO in Paris.

A self-declared humanist, Sánchez del Valle embraces an autodidactic stance that resists categorization. His work refuses specialization, instead drawing from a broad constellation of influences that span mythology, philosophy, natural form, and the subconscious. This intellectual and emotional expansiveness crystallizes in what he calls My Own Jungle - a conceptual territory that embodies independence, vitality, and the poetic tension between life and death. Within this space, liberty and discipline coexist; extremes are confronted, yet mediocrity never permitted.

His paintings often evoke a state of materialized surrealism - a sensorial arena where animals, figures, and mythic presences intertwine within layered realities. Through dynamic abstraction and visceral mark-making, Sánchez del Valle translates raw emotion into visual rhythm, allowing the viewer to encounter art not as representation but as an event of feeling. The result is a practice that navigates from mythological archetype to contemporary immediacy, uniting the poetic and the brutal in equal measure.
